Practical preparation for those who have small children is proposed based on mothers' experiences at the time of the Great East Japan Earthquake such as “tips for evacuation to protect lives, and the things that should be prepared at home”. To overcome a disaster with children that grow every day, we propose effective preparation for disaster survival which is appropriate for children's age. Participants can experience ideas to help getting on with life after a disaster, such as finger songs, baby food, diapers and the use of potties.
Opportunities to learn about disasters as well as having a prepared household are both essential for families with infants and small children. Clearly imagining a specific disaster can enable participants to know how to act to be prepared. (The feeling of being afraid can be overcome, and if you don’t know what to do – just start by doing what you can)
