BT0009 Yamamoto Town
You will learn about the residents’ former daily- lives, the extent of the earthquake damage, and useful information and lessons as you go around the coastal area of Yamamoto Town, Miyagi Prefecture, which was destroyed by the tsunami, as well as the new inland areas in Yamamoto Town, Miyagi Prefecture where new towns are being created.
Basic course [example: 90-minute course]: Yamamoto Town Office ⇒ urban area in front of Shin-Yamashita Station ⇒ former JR Yamashita Station, the town's memorial monument (get off the bus) ⇒ Disaster Prevention Park ⇒ Joban Yamamoto Driving School ruins ⇒ former Nakahama Elementary School (get off the bus) ⇒ former JR Sakamoto Station ⇒ urban area in front of Shin-Sakamoto Station ⇒ city area around Shin-Miyagi Hospital ⇒ Yamamoto Town Office
*Aside from this, activities such as viewing photographs and films from just after the disaster, exhibition tour of evacuation centers during that time, and lecture about shelter management and disaster prevention can be conducted at the Yamamoto Town Disaster Prevention Base/ Yamashita Area Exchange Center.
We want to share the lessons we learned from the Great East Japan Earthquake to raise disaster awareness, so that fewer people will experience the same kind of hardships as we did, and to help you realize the importance of what you can do as well as the importance of self-help and cooperation.
The maximum capacity is negotiable.
Fee: Large bus: 15,000 yen; Micro bus: 10,000 yen *Consultation is required for other conditions.
The escort must always be on-board the vehicle during the tour.
