Create a Reason for Living: Fishery and Tourism in Ogatsucho, Ishinomaki. Aim for the Revival of the Town and People's Hearts

Contents/ Itinerary for BOSAI Tourism

Participants will visit Okawa Elementary School and Ogatsu Hospital in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture to pay their respects to those who died. Ogatsucho Town residents and story-tellers will share their disaster experiences and talk about the recovery progress. Participants will also meet those living in Disaster Reconstruction Municipal Housing in Ogtsucho Town, and go fishing or do volunteer weeding activities with them. Participants will stay at local fishermen’s houses and see reconstruction progress in Ogatsucho, Ishinomaki City and Onagawa Town.
This is a 2 day/1 night tour departing from Tokyo.

What we want to tell through the experiences of BOSAI Tourism Contents

Reconstruction after the Great East Japan Earthquake is still on the way as is the recovery of people's hearts. Through this tour, we would like participants to realize that despite still being emotionally hurt, there are people who desire to restore their hometown to the richness it had in the past.
