Tour of Kesennuma/ Motoyoshi Disaster Prevention Center (earthquake experience, smoke experience, etc.)

Contents/ Itinerary for BOSAI Tourism

Participants will see display panels on BOSAI at the Disaster Prevention Center, and gain knowledge on disaster preparedness through various hands-on activities.
• Earthquake experience: Participants experience just how scary an earthquake is and learn the necessary procedures to follow if an earthquake occurs while in an ordinary dining room with a kitchen.
• Smoke experience: Participants will simulate evacuating from a smoke-filled room and learn how scary smoke is, and how to efficiently evacuate in the event of fire.
• Other: A rope-crossing experience for children, various exhibition corners, theater hall, Namazu-kun area, etc.
• We aim to feasibly answer any other requests by participants.

What we want to tell through the experiences of BOSAI Tourism Contents

Our program aims to improve participants’ knowledge of BOSAI, and gain the ability to take action for disaster preparedness through various exhibitions and simulations (earthquake, smoke and fire). Emphasis is placed on informing participants of the experiences and lessons learned from the disaster as a disaster affected area of Great East Japan Earthquake.
