Field Trip to the Disaster Area, Guesthouse "Kakehashi" in Kesennuma

Contents/ Itinerary for BOSAI Tourism

Staff will talk about damage from the tsunami, issues related to reconstruction, and the current state of the town and recovery while walking around the tsunami-affected area with participants.

A basic course: walking around an area that still has not been reconstructed after the tsunami hit, focusing on the Hashikami area in Kesennuma City to Kouyou High School in Kesennuma City.
Please contact us for special trips to visit other areas such as Minamisanriku Town and Rikuzentakata City.

What we want to tell through the experiences of BOSAI Tourism Contents

Pros and cons of preserving disaster-affected buildings and facilities in order to convey the lesson of the Great East Japan Earthquake; issues in towns where reconstruction has not progressed; the height and frightening power of a tsunami; the kindness of people in the disaster area; examples of successful as well as failed reconstruction support; current recovery efforts

This program is provided for free to overnight guests at Guesthouse "Kakehashi" (For reference: from 3,500 yen per night)
