Ogatsu Rose Factory Garden

"Ogatsu Tale of Flowers" began as a project by local residents who experienced the disaster to help the Ogatsu neighborhood of Ishinomaki recover from the enormous 3.11 tsunami through "the power of flowers and greenery." Examples of our projects are fundraising to green the disaster area and supporting disaster affected people, disaster preparedness education, supporting volunteer activities, offering educational courses regarding the Ogatsu ecosystem of forests, rivers and ocean. As a part of projects, we established the Ogatsu Environmental Education Center which promotes Education for sustainable Development (ESD) with integration of local revitalization, and also engage in hands-on workshops and seminars, organized by the newly established project department.
