Learning about reconstruction and town planning by visiting reconstruction shopping streets in various regions. A program where participants learn about what has been created and lost through the long process of reconstruction as well as what is a better way of reconstruction (Build back better).

Arahama Nigiwai Corridor Shopping Street

It is a shopping street run by a group of shop owners that opened in March, 2015. There are eight shops, such as a cycling shop, surfing shop and seafood shop.

Minamisanriku Sun Sun Shopping Village

Minamisanriku Sun Sun Shopping Village

Sun Sun Shopping Village opened as a temporary shopping street in February, 2012. It reopened closer to the town center, the ground of which was raised up to 8.3 meters higher than before the disaster. It is designated as a “Machinaka Saisei Project”, and is run by a town planning company.
